The Big Zip
2006 Sorrel Solid Paint Bred Gelding

Are you looking for a perfect barrel and pole prospect? Your search can stop here because The Big Zip’s as close to perfect as one can be! He comes from a family of World Class winners, has been started slowly and right, is versatile enough to watch a cow, take out for a trail ride, and most of all, he’s fast, athletic, safe and sane. This is a fantastically nice colt. No bad habits, no buck, rear, spook or silliness……just a good colt that is kind, willing, capable and smart.
The Big Zip’s sire is Big Country APHA—a great horse in his own right. He’s a son of World Champion Race Horse Star Look, and out of Easy Country Music, a blue hen mare and full sister to Easy Jet Too one of the industry’s all time leading Paint race sires. Big’s pedigree reads like who’s who in the world of Paint racing. See more about Big Country here http://www.flyingohorses.com/stallions-pages/big-country.html.
Among The Big Zip’s illustrious half siblings are: Mz Simply Flashy, ROM Barrels and Poles, APHA World Show Top Ten for two years in both barrels and poles, Dixie Nationals Winner in Barrels, multiple other wins throughout the southeast. Another half sibling, Simply Zippin owned and campaigned by Sarabeth Thompson from Tennessee, has become a favorite mount throughout High School and Little Britches Rodeo competition for her owner, ending their high school career with a trip to the National Finals for both organizations, and topping that with a rodeo scholarship! See a video of Simply Zippin here http://horsesofthewest.com/news/2010/10/on-barrel-horse-world-this-week/. SaraBeth and Zippin will continue their career together at the University of Tennessee at Martin. She’s also going to be riding Handsome Lark, another of the half sibs. The Big Zip’s last little half sister, Simply a Rockin Gal, is in Minnesota where she’ll be starting training in 2011—and the rave reviews are already being sent! Thank you Scott and Michelle.
Big Country also sired Windcountry Wahoo owned and ridden by Sue Kay Gorman from SD. They had a big win in 2009, winning the Open Poles at the 5 State Futurity—in tough competition! They’ve gone on to do very well in 2010 with multiple wins in barrels and poles and we expect to see them often in 2011!
After much discussion we decided to offer The Big Zip for sale at this point…..he’s not finished by any means, but he’s certainly ready for a new owner to finish. We know this colt is a talented individual. He takes to barrel training like he’s been waiting his entire life to see a barrel, has an effortless style, and is quick, catty, and most of all, sensible. Our trainer says he’s the most ‘’natural’’ barrel horse she’s ever ridden. If we still own him in 2011, he’ll be hauled and his price will increase accordingly.
Vet checks welcomed at buyer’s expense.
Priced at $6500.00
NEWS FLASH! Sarabeth and Bill's half sister Simply Zippin set an arena record for barrels at UT Martin in 2011 college rodeo competition! Congratulations!
